Is This Available In Your Area?

I've always been intrigued with the idea of library sponsorship as a method of advertising. Not major corporate sponsorships where you contribute thousands of dollars to get your name on a plaque and sponsors lists. I'm talking about smaller $20 and $30 sponsorships where you purchase a magazine subscription in return for placing your name and maybe a small advertising message label on the front cover. As far as I can tell, this isn't available in the two major library systems in Baltimore. But smaller communities seem to be ideal places to allow this kind of advertising opportunity. You need to contact eithe the circulation director or the development director to sound them out about the idea. If the idea is accepted, pick up subscriptions to magazines you feel your potential customers read. As an added benefit, most libraries display the current issues facing front on their display racks. As patrons pass by or stop to look through the racks, your name and message will stand out and, hopefully be read by an appreciative audience. After all, you're helping to keep their library stocked with great reading material. Can't get much more positive publicity than that. Not a bad year-long investment for $20 to $30.
