How many times have you looked at a nearby apartment complex or high-rise building and said to yourself -- "the people who live there are great prospects and can all use my services"? But unless you bribe the desk clerk, you'll never be able to walk around the building and introduce yourself. Newspaper advertising is too broad-based to ensure you'll reach those people. Direct mail is the only sure-fire alternative.
Either develop the list of apartment numbers yourself, or locate a list broker who can supply the addresses with apartment numbers. If the list omits the names, title address the mailing to something creative, like
Bargain Hunter at
123 Main Street, Apt. A
Baltimore, MD 21215
or "An Intelligent Person at" or "[Your Product] Buyer". Be creative and your mail will be delivered. Recommendation: Make friends with the desk clerk(s); that way you can ensure your mail will be delivered and s/he will recommend you to the tenants.
